School for the Hearing Impared
The 75 children ages 5 to 18 are taught by specialized teachers, providing different levels of training. They are under the supervision of the Hearing Impaired School of Santo Domingo and the auspices of a group of volunteers. Sign language education is offered to the families of the children for those that are interested. Three (3) blind children are also being taught and cared for by specially trained personnel.
The older students in the school enjoy the same activities as other students. There is a beauty technical school at Hogar, where the Hearing Impaired girls can learn and earn a technical degree in this area.
