Scholarship Program
Children with disabilities are sent to a special school in the area; students with limited resources and good academic index receive scholarships to study music, computer and a university career, to improve their future. We have 49 children and young people receiving this service and we will be increasing this number, serving as motivation for the students who wish to apply for these scholarships.
The demand of children in need of free education is three times larger than our capacity, leaving outside our shelter a great percentage of the population. The PBO is offering scholarships in different levels: basic, High school, college and special education students. Up until now we have helped those whose future would truly be in peril without our support, trying to give an opportunity to the children with high potential to continue their education further.
More than 60% of the highschool students in La Romana cannot continue with further studies. With this program and through our Hogar del Niño highschool we will continue to help these children become productive adults. With the help of the College Scholarship Program we can ensure that our highest GPA students will continue their education and become profesionals, making a positive change in their lives and their community.
