About Us
"Hogar del Niño" is a complete day care center for working mothers that offer services for over 1500 children per day. The children are taken in from newborn to 18 years of age through programs of crib room and daycare, primary and high school, school for the hearing impaired and school for the blinds. Our services include medical and dental care, with medicines and nutrition for all. Our doors open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.
In addition to this, three times a week we receive children from the poorest surrounding areas of La Romana´s sugar cane bateyes, orphanages, schools and other institutions, who come in for medical and dental care. These children total approximately 9,000. As the most complete project of child assistance in the Dominican Republic, Hogar del Niño is considered by international experts to be a model in efficiency and quality care.
We believe that our organization have grown and developed through the years answering for the needs of our community. By working together with the children at La Romana, we have learned that we should not stop in providing their needs, but prepare them to have an actual role in society and become self providers for them and their families.
